Illinois Fishing License with a Great Lakes Salmon Stamp or a 24 hour Illinois Great Lakes License, which includes the stamp, is necessary to board and catch fish on Lake Michigan.
Bring sun glasses. Preferably polarized fishing glasses to lesson the sun's glare that reflects off the water. You'll need to keep your eyes open for the ones that jump.
Wear comfortable shoes with traction, so you can anchor in while you're reeling in the big catch.
Bring a camera for video and still photos so you can show off the big salmon you caught while charter fishing on Lake Michigan.
Bring a cooler packed with your food and drinks. It's very important to keep yourself hydrated.
Bring a larger 55 quart cooler for all the fish you're going to catch. Once we clean the day's catch, you will need a way to transport it home.
A hat or ball cap is a good idea, especially for you guys that are getting a bit thin on top. Protects your head from burning.
Starting out at 4am means that you may need to dress in layers and bring some warm clothing to wear.You'll want to be comfortable when you're fishing on Lake Michigan. Don't forget your rain gear! The weather can change quickly.
Make sure you bring sunscreen especially if your burn easy. If you are burnt, you can't enjoy salmon fishing on Lake Michigan.
